The Last Art Race

Last night I watched the last episode of Art Race on Halo. Savored every episode. I remember seeing the call for this show, and thought it was a great idea but no way would I apply. When I saw the show on tv I was so excited and felt lucky to have stumbled on to it. I even got the guys into it.
In a nutshell, 2 Artists have to travel across country in 40 days living only on the art they sell or trade, then at once reaching their destination have only hours to get a gallery show together. The winner is the Artist that makes the most money and the loser has to give the winner the money they make to the winner. I'm sorry it's over. I can honestly say that if they did it again I might consider applying, even though I despise my picture taken, being filmed and being in the spotlight, because I do love a good adventure! This one would be awesome. Heck I might take off one day w/o a film crew.
The two Artist they picked, Ben Sargent & Kenny Harris, styles were so different that there was no way I could pick a favorite in the end. I fell for both of them. I'd like to hang out with both of them. I do have to say that Ben did seem a bit more creative and fun, was a more postive person, while Kenny was traditional, technically competent but a bit of a complainer. Ben's art was wild wacky fun & Kenny's was traditional, stunning, great compositions. Click HERE to read more about the show and some of their blog posts.

Way Out!

I stepped outside the box, way out! Popped the lid off of it! I received an email from Tangent Gallery a few days ago requesting submissions for the Neo-Fantasy/Sci Fi Exhibition for March 10th. I couldn't resist creating this mixed media piece of an Alien and Winged Alien Cat like companion. Maybe the creature should have a name? I'll take suggestions. It was so fun painting this. I was in the Twilight Zone! I submitted it so we'll see what happens. Whether it's accepted or not I can't wait to see this show!"The Clearing"

I Need More...

... well... lots of things but fruit is definitely something I don't eat enough of! Videos like this one doesn't help any, it just makes fruit a little creepier for me. haha I won't even get into Fruit of the Loom or California raisins. Whenever I do eat fruit, I love it, and I think to myself, dang! I'm going to eat more fruit, but it never works out that way. It's so sweet and I am not a big sweets person. I get my sweets in the form of bread, noodles, potatoes, etc... My Mom came out and stayed with me for a few months after my brother died and after a month or so she asks me if I ever eat fruit! haha I ate some that day & washed it down with a little guilt. ;) I do buy it, (mostly apples & bananas) but if the guys don't eat it, it just gets thrown out to the squirrels & other varmints around here. I like to buy apples because those last the longest & look so pretty on my tiered fruit plates. I eat them with my eyes. ;) Maybe I'll make a big fruit salad & keep it in the frig? Got a good recipe for me? Do you eat your daily servings of fruit? Hope your day is "fruitful". ( You know I couldn't resist that right?!) haha

A Big Shout Out goes to CynArt for featuring my Spring Garden Angel in her lovely Etsy Treasury! Be sure to check out her shop full of her wonderful watercolors!

Gaga Over Gaga?

I think Lady Gaga's is fabulous. Her make-up, costumes, true performance art. She's refreshing don't you think? Honestly I wouldn't buy her music, I would keep it if someone gave it to me, (sorry Lady Gaga) but I'd stop dead in my tracks to watch her! Well if you would like to be fabulous too, you can with some make-up tips from Michelle Phan. Another fun video of Michelle Phan's is the Barbie make-up! I might just try this to freak the guys out around here. Pull out all that colorful crazy shadow that I kept "just in case for Halloween" Don't judge me.haha These videos are a little long but fun!

Did Ya Notice ?....

I think the Stylist on American Idol has been shopping on Etsy! Really! I have noticed some of the contestants donning jewelery that I've seen quite often on Etsy. Such as the octopus necklace in Simply ChaCha's shop, which I love, on Crystal Bowersox, the peacock earrings in CMorishi's shop and crochet earrings in Uniquely Chic For You shop on Lilly Scott... I am so excited for the new season to really get started! I think it's a great group this year. Here's the link to the new 24. It will also be fun to see if more popular Etsy items pop up in their wardrobes!

I just listed 3 new sushi ACEOs & this Sunny Angel in my Etsy Shop.

Everyone But Me?

How did I not know this all this time? All the years of struggling with with this sticky plastic wrap. All the years of cooking, the leftovers , and there, all a long, was a simple little helpful thing on the side of the box. A little spot to press in to keep the tube of wrap from jumping all over the place & out of the box! Am I the only one who didn't know about this? LOL

Not "Boar-ing" & Seriously Silly!

I made something seriously silly while watching the Super Bowl. My son asked me what I was making and I told him clothes for my Tabasco bottle! hahaha His eyes rolled but he wasn't surprised. hahaha If you know me you know how I love hot sauces! This is silly yes, a little cheesy yes, a little retro yes, cute....well... I think it's pretty cute. I had enough white crochet thread to make 2 of them. I never leave sauces out on the counters, I have an entire cabinet dedicated to hot sauces, but this bottle might have to stay on the counter. Actually I'm thinking I might have to make a few more and get every flavor of Tabasco and have a cute little row of Amigos or Banditos, depending on the hotness! haha My kitchen is already a little stranger than most. I have roosters, bees, black bears, copper & wine/grape things in there but somehow it does all come together. I don't see why these won't fit right in! I may leave off the serape, I think they are just as cute w/o it.

My son brought home some wild boar sausage that was given to him by a friend. I cooked it this weekend with some cabbage & onions and boy was it good! They used sweet italian spices in it. We all loved it. My son & I also made some cheese this weekend. With a house full of Foodies it's never "boar-ing" around here. haha. A Big Shout Out goes to Sandy's Cape Cod Originals who included my Christ painting in her wonderful Etsy Treasury! As it turns out you will find some awesome crochet patterns in her Etsy shop. Thank you Sandy!

What A Wonderful Way...

...to start this week! I woke up to find that one of my paintings was featured on the Christian Artist Team Blog . What a sweet surprise and a wonderful post in which to be included in. Thank you! One of my Angels was also featured in this eye-popping Etsy Treasury made by Angelpupscreations. I love her nail & wire crosses.

This weekend I worked on a crocheted baby blanket for my niece. She's having a girl and this is not the typical pink baby blanket. I feel bad I didn't have it finished in time to mail for her baby shower, but better late than never. You know how I love bees..... I searched for a bee pattern but couldn't find any that I thought would work so I had to make this one up. I think they came out pretty cute if I say so myself. I'm thinking it needs a few flowers here & there as well. The blanket itself is made of black & white strips that crochet up really fast. I am pleased how this is turning out and I hope she likes it. In May there is a Bee Gallery Opening/Benefit which I plan to be participating in. If I have time I may make another one for that show as well as a painting & my bee zines.
I ate oriental food all weekend. Just craving it. I even stayed up late last night painting this piece! I am selling prints of it in my Etsy Shop. Looking at this piece today makes me want to eat some more! I treasure my memories of living in Japan, although as a child I didn't eat sushi. My favorite thing was the animal shaped pancakes filled with sweet red beans that they had at every festival. I had so much fun painting this that I may paint some more. In addition to craving oriental food on my plate, I'm craving sage green on my palette. Maybe it's the weather, gray skies, wintry muted colors? Don't worry I'll snap out of it. haha
