Orange Ya...

...glad I'm not going to do a stupid orange joke? chuckle. groan. hahaha I visited Pictsy Art today and saw her beautiful orange-a-licious tree painting that she did for her mother and it got me thinking about my mother & the color orange. If I painted something like Pictsy's beautiful tree for my mother it would mysteriously disappear. LOL. With the exception of few Halloween items once a year, or food items, orange was a color that did not exist much in our house. If we even dared to want something orange, just the thought of it would drive her crazy, she would immediately tell us, again, how much she hated orange and try and convince us to feel the same way. As hard as I try I can't think of anything that I had growing up that was the color orange. I think she would be pleased if my sister & I, although grown, would continue not have anything orange. *Now that I type that out I realize how weird it actually is, but it just makes my Mom more adorable to me* Neither my sister or I ever insisted own having something orange when she protested that I can recall. There isn't a color that I don't like. Is there one that rubs you the wrong way? Despite Mom's efforts & orange protests, my sister & I like orange! Sis painted her beach house kitchen cabinets a beautiful creamy tangerine color and it is so different & pretty and you may remember from my Christmas Home Tour video in December that the guy's bathroom is a burnt orange color, I love it with bright white fixtures & baseboards. Rebels I say! I know for certain if she was able to visit that is one bathroom she wouldn't be using. Oh and if she visits my blog, she'll totally skip over this post. LOLDinner

That is too funny! I love color. The brighter the better. LOL Deep greens and blues, yellows and oranges, dark purples but no lavender though.

I love orange. I wonder why she doesn't like orange. Have your ever asked her why? I have to have color and in fact I'm going to be painting the cabinets in my studio a mango color and a bright red of sorts. Have a great week.

My mom says Orange makes her mad! hahaha seriously.

Too funny, maybe she had a bad experience with orange or was forced to eat a candied yam (yech!) as a child (that would make me mad to). Lovely post, hope you and you mom have a great week.

When I was growing up I hated the color green. The reason? My mom loved all things green and every shade of green. Yes, even drab olive green and avocado green appliances were things of beauty to her. Ugh! So I became a blue person. Everything had to be shades of blue. One day, I realized that I was as fanatical about blue as she was about green and I stopped my obsession with blue for all time. Now I love all colors. I have soft shades of green in my house, along with a touch of soft blue here and there. I have no aversion to or obsession with any color now. I love them all!
Oh, and my bedroom growing up: yellow and orange!

totally funny that you even posted this in orange. I love orange. I remember a favorite eyelet little blouse that my mom dyed orange for me that I absolutely loved as a kid.. wore it to death, or at least until it didn't fit anymore. we even had bright tangerine colored living room walls as I grew up.

I can't think of a color that I have an aversion to. I'm not fond of white walls, does that count?

I just thought of one thing that is bad if orange... lipstick. lipstick should not be orange.

Agreed! Just say no to orange lipstick!
